Pigeon Forge offers video chats with Santa, delivers letters from North Pole

Santa Claus might be immune to COVID-19, but travel to the North Pole can be tricky amid a pandemic. Thanks to Pigeon Forge, kids can video chat with Old St. Nick from the comfort of their homes to the big man’s home office.

As one of the country’s most popular holiday vacation destinations, Pigeon Forge is using its direct line to Santa to connect families and limit contact this season.

“We understand the holiday season may look different for a lot of families this year, but making Christmastime memories is more important than ever,” said Leon Downey, Pigeon Forge executive director of tourism, in a release.

“We’re grateful that Santa and technology can work together to gift families with the magic of Christmas in a safe, contact-free way.”

Calling Claus

Sitting on Santa’s lap isn’t safe this year, but kids can speak to St. Nick on computer screens everywhere with Pigeon Forge’s free virtual visits.

Parents can schedule a 10-minute Zoom call with Santa Nov. 30 through Dec. 15 at MyPigeonForge.com/Santa. One-on-one time slots are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily, excluding Sundays. Santa has a lot to do before Christmas Eve, so availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each family who chats with Santa will receive an exclusive ornament to commemorate the special call from the North Pole.
