Sadly, due to COVID-19 restrictions, no family members were present for weeks and months previous. She had been in residence at the Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center since 2019. It was reported by staff that Elizabeth, “Liz” was in her bed, resting, at the time of her passing.
Liz is the third oldest daughter of James Richard Whaley and Etta Leola Lindsey of Sevierville and was the last surviving member of that immediate family.
She is also preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd O. Franklin of Sevierville and Henry Ford of Englewood, Kansas, as well as her oldest son, Richard Daniel Franklin of Sevierville.
She leaves behind five children, dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Her children, William C. Franklin, Connie Jo Franklin (Ross), Annette C. Franklin (Pleasant), David L. Franklin (Ford) and Jimmy R. Ford are thankful to the family members and caregivers that attended for her needs over the past months and years.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her suffering is over and she has peace with the Lord. We all look forward to our reunion.
