PIGEON FORGE — A fun morning of mini-golf went a long way toward helping local children who are members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains.
Professor Hacker’s Lost Treasure Golf was the site of the “Help a Hole Lot of Kids Mini Golf Tournament,” with all proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Club.
“We had 13 teams play today and raised over $10,000 supporting Boys & Girls Club,” said Karen Robinette, director of Resource Development & Marketing for Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains.
The winning team was Ripken Experience.
“It is fun. We wanted this to be open to businesses and families,” said Katie Sidwell, a co-owner of the course and Boys & Girls Club board member.
Players of various ages joined in on the fun, including Olivia Dominguez, daughter of Brandy Trosclair Dominguez, executive director of the Pigeon Forge Chamber of Commerce.
“It is something I can do and spend time with my mom and my friends,” Olivia said.
Eric Bradley, president of the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains Board of Directors, was among those who played that morning.
“We are here to have fun and help the kids,” he said.
His team, Smoky Mountain Navigators, didn’t win, but they had a good time trying, as Bradley said each of the teammates has a competitive spirit.
The first-third place teams were all recognized as well as the last place finishing team.
Sidwell said this is their third year holding the tournament, which was last held in 2019 and temporarily halted due to the COVId-19 pandemic.
