New Greenville businesses offer honey, cookies, healthcare

A place with honey-inspired goods, a gourmet cookie shop, and a new family medicine practice are among Greenville’s new businesses.

Savannah Bee Company

Savannah Bee Company re-opened its newest retail location at 123 N. Main St., in downtown Greenville, on March 27.
The re-opening follows a late fall debut ahead of the holiday season and a brief hiatus beginning in January.
The updated space, located just a few doors down from Mast General Store, features a honey-inspired café with indoor and outdoor seating and a full mead bar.
The Savannah Bee Company store also features a custom specialty honey bar where guests can taste a wide range of unique honeys from partner beekeepers around the world; the company’s full line of natural beauty and body care items featuring hive-derived ingredients such as royal jelly and beeswax; and more.
The Greenville shop marks the fourth South Carolina location for the Savannah, Georgia-based brand, and its 15th location nationwide.

Savannah, Georgia-based Byrd’s Famous Cookies will hold a soft opening for its new Greenville store, from 11am to 7 p.m. on April 1.
The new store at 17 S. Main St. is the company’s 12th Byrd’s Famous Cookies.
This location will feature a fully-stocked cookie bar, a history wall, gift items, and collectible tins. Every guest is encouraged to try all 20 flavors at the cookie bar, absolutely free, the company’s press release said.
Byrd Cookie Company is one of the largest and fastest-growing independent cookie, snack, and gift companies in the United States.
Its Greenville store is one of five new stores the company will open in 2021. Additional stores are planned in Myrtle Beach, SC, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Ember Modern Medicine

Ember Modern Medicine, a family medical practice which aims to provide a more personal approach to healthcare, opened on March 19.
The practice is located at 1068 North Church Street and was initially slated to open on February 15. The lag was due to renovation delays.
Ember Modern Medicine uses the direct primary care model — patients pay a flat, periodic fee for a defined set of services — rather than a fee-for-service model.
Ember offers memberships at $85 to $100 per month for adults, and $20 per month for children. These memberships include unlimited visits each year, basic in-office procedures and diagnostic tests, discounted prescriptions, and discounts from Ember’s community partners throughout Greenville. It will also offer customized packages for small or medium-sized businesses.
The practice includes Dr. Brian Blank, who worked at Prisma Health Urgent Care for nearly three years, and one registered nurse. They hope to add physicians as the practice grows.
Ember is also an approved COVID-19 provider and is waiting for details of when they will begin receiving shipments.
