More family fun — about $30 million worth — is coming to a Pigeon Forge waterpark.
Country Cascades Waterpark Resort broke ground Tuesday on a seven-story River Tower that will add 91 new rooms. There are two other towers at the park with a combined 231 rooms.

The waterpark expansion will complete a commitment made by its owners the Collier family to invest $50 million into their Smoky Mountain tourism businesses.
River Tower is expected to open in summer 2023.
The new tower will feature a mountain-themed grand lobby with a large stone fireplace, hot and grab-and-go food options, and mountain-themed rooms designed to sleep up to six guests.
Each room will have will have a dedicated space for kids with an in-room scavenger hunt that leads to a treasure chest.
