The inaugural festival was held at the LeConte Event Center in Pigeon Forge last October. This year it’s moving to Gatlinburg and scheduled for Aug. 19-21.
Organizer Larry Morand announced the lineup this week, with featured acts including Extreme, Quiet Riot, Queensrÿche, Night Ranger and Kix.
They enjoyed the inaugural event at the LeConte Center, he said, but they think Gatlinburg will make a good fit because there are so many hotels and restaurants in easy walking distance.
“It’s right there in the middle of everything, which I like a lot,” he said.
“One of the things you’re going to do in a festival like this is think are you going to get people fed, where are they going to go if they just want to get out for a minute,” he said.
He said he talked to former Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Mark Adams after last year’s show, and when he saw the renovations for the facility he felt like it would be a great fit for the festival.
They’ll have three main stages throughout the day, with an indoor/outdoor patio and a vendors area.
The event will also feature an art gallery with works from rockers including guitarists Joe Satriani, who will be there for a special performance for people who purchase art at the show.
“It will be a very special, very intimate performance,” Morand said.
