SMYRNA – After falling to Pigeon Forge early Wednesday in the Class AA state tournament, the Nolensville High School baseball team earned another shot at the Tigers by winning their next game.

The Knights bounced back from the 4-0 shutout to stop Ripley 11-10 in consolation play and reach the final four on the state stage.

Leading 7-4 after four innings, Ripley plated five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 9-7 lead. In the top of the seventh, the Knights responded with four runs off a Jackson Hill double, Jack Riggs single and two-run single by Ethan Syling.
Hill went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and like Syling, drove in three runs for the Nolensville offense, which notched 13 hits. Ripley managed one run in the bottom of the seventh, but Landon Dismang and Ethan McElvain picked up the final outs.
The Knights were silenced in the early contest Wednesday at Smyrna High School, falling 4-0 to Pigeon Forge and Mr. Baseball Dylan Loy. Loy surrendered five hits and struck out 10 with just one walk in the victory.
McElvain, a Mr. Baseball finalist, also went the distance, allowing two earned on five hits with eight Ks and three walks. The sophomore doubled and drove in a run in the second game of the day.
Nolensville will face the Tigers again at 2 p.m. to try and extend their season and push into title contention.
