2022 Thrills in the Hills Schedule

For most of us, hosts and guests alike, we know that Dollywood is a really special park. There are a lot of things that make it unique, but one of the most popular qualities is our incredible coasters. From flying on Wild Eagle to racing over the mountains on Lightning Rod, Dollywood’s coasters are an incredible experience.

On July 8-9, Dollywood will host the 14th annual Thrills in the Hills. Buying a ticket to this behind-the-scenes event grants you theme park admission for two days PLUS extras like exclusive ride times, a lift hill tour on Thunderhead, a meal, snacks and swag. Here are a few notes that you might find helpful:

On Saturday morning, participants have the opportunity to take an exclusive behind-the-scenes lift hill tour of Thunderhead. This unique opportunity allows participants to learn more about the wooden coaster, which opened in 2004 and has received several awards.  This experience requires walking up the ride’s 100 ft. tall lift hill. Due to the nature of this unique experience, participants must be 18 years or older and wear closed-toed shoes.

Notice that after lunch you will have free time in the park to enjoy your favorite rides, shows and experiences. We will meet back up for a delicious snack and exclusive ride time at night.

Both Friday and Saturday nights have Exclusive Ride Times, Lightning Rod and Wild Eagle respectively. While the Sweet Summer Nights drone and fireworks show happens every night at 9:40 during Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration, it will be more convenient for participants who want to enjoy that show to do so on Saturday night. The drones can only be seen from Wildwood Grove, which is a shorter walk from Saturday’s EXCLUSIVE Ride Time at Wild Eagle. You also may choose to participate in the interactive dance parties in Wildwood Grove starting at 8:45 and 9:15 p.m. both Friday and Saturday evenings.
