Bert Barrett, born in Cairo, Georgia, and moved to Miami, Florida as an infant. He met and married the love of his life, Carla, and built a life in Miami.
Bert was an avid builder of homes, boats, and always, his beloved street rods. He owned Par Construction Co. in Miami, and built homes all over southern Florida. He retired at 49 and moved to the Florida Keys to build commercial fishing boats, always named after his beloved Carla B, and became a lobster and stone crab fisherman.
Always looking forward to the next great adventure, Bert and Carla retired (once again) and moved to southern Georgia and eventually to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Working side by side, they were involved in many business ventures throughout their lives together. They were very involved in the Gatlinburg Craftsman’s Fair for years which led to buying the “Soda Fountain” in the Arts and Crafts Community. The Smoky Mountain Cruisers was a great pastime for Bert and Carla due to their love for vintage street rods.
