James W. Reed, Jr. 79 of rural Geneva, Wells County, passed away on Saturday March 20, 202,1 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
James was born on Feb. 11, 1942, in Huntington, to James W. Reed, Sr. and Ethel (Cunningham) Reed. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1960 and served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. He worked on the family farm and worked for K-Mart Distribution and Pretzels Inc. in Bluffton, where he retired in 2007.

James enjoyed fishing, hunting and family vacations to Pigeon Forge and Niagara Falls.
On Aug. 27, 1967, in Warren, James and Mary A. (Pinkerton) Reed were married.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary of rural Geneva and two children; Timothy J. (Kendra) Reed of rural Geneva and Marsha Ann (Scott) Drew of Bluffton, along with four grandchildren; Samantha Drew, Mitchel Drew, Kailey Reed and Brandon Reed.
James is also survived by a sister, Nancy (Tom) Stricker of Van Wert, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul Reed.
A service to celebrate James’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton with Pastor Mark Dauterman officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service.
Memorials may be made in James’s memory to Woodburn Christian Children’s Home or the memorial of the donor’s choice.
